Tourism Institute of East Africa – Fort Portal Campus | Opening 2026

The Tourism Institute of East Africa (TIEA) is proud to announce the upcoming Fort Portal Campus, a new cornerstone of tourism and hospitality education in Western Uganda. Opening in 2026, this campus brings world-class learning to the “City of Seven Hills,” a region celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, cultural richness, and growing tourism industry.

Fort Portal is not just a destination — it is a living classroom, where rolling hills, crater lakes, national parks, and vibrant communities provide a backdrop for students to learn, explore, and innovate. At TIEA Fort Portal, education transcends textbooks; students engage directly with real-world tourism operations, eco-lodges, cultural sites, and conservation initiatives, gaining hands-on experience that prepares them for a rapidly evolving industry.

Our regional learning model ensures that every student at Fort Portal will experience cross-campus exchange across East Africa — studying for a month at other TIEA campuses, interacting with peers from different countries, and gaining insights into diverse tourism markets. Likewise, lecturers rotate between campuses, bringing fresh perspectives, expertise, and innovative teaching methods to every classroom.

The Fort Portal Campus is designed to ignite creativity, foster sustainability, and cultivate leadership. Students will not only acquire practical skills in tourism management, hospitality, and event planning but also develop entrepreneurial mindsets that enable them to create opportunities, lead businesses, and elevate the region’s tourism potential.

TIEA Fort Portal is more than a campus — it is a hub of discovery, innovation, and inspiration. Here, nature and learning converge to shape professionals who are ready to transform Uganda’s tourism sector and position it prominently on the global stage.

Come 2026, Western Uganda will have a home for tourism excellence —
