Tourism Institute of East Africa – Mbale Campus | Opening 2026
The Tourism Institute of East Africa (TIEA) proudly announces the launch of its Mbale Campus, set to open in 2026, at the gateway to Mount Elgon and the breathtaking landscapes of Eastern Uganda. Mbale, renowned for its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and emerging tourism potential, is now becoming a center for world-class tourism and hospitality education.
At TIEA Mbale, students will experience an education that goes beyond the classroom. Hands-on learning, industry exposure, and community engagement will equip them with the skills, confidence, and creativity needed to thrive in hotels, lodges, travel agencies, and tourism enterprises across East Africa and beyond.
Our cross-campus exchange program allows Mbale students to study for one month at other TIEA campuses in different countries, gaining regional perspectives, cultural insight, and professional networks that set them apart as globally-minded tourism professionals. Similarly, lecturers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and other campuses rotate through Mbale, bringing fresh expertise and diverse teaching approaches.
The Mbale Campus is designed to be a hub of innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship in tourism and hospitality. Students will engage directly with local communities, eco-tourism projects, and heritage sites, turning theoretical knowledge into practical, industry-ready skills.
Come 2026, Eastern Uganda will have a home for ambitious tourism professionals —
The Tourism Institute of East Africa, Mbale Campus.
A place where mountain landscapes inspire learning, where talent meets opportunity, and where Africa learns together.
