Ministry of Education , Science, Technology and Sports: Every training institution that offers any training is supposed to be registered by the Ministry of Education & Sports in Uganda. The mandate of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) is to provide quality Education and sports services in the country, which are constitutional obligations for the Ugandan State and Government therefore. The Mission of the MoES is "to provide technical support, guide, coordinate, regulate and promote quality education, training and sports to all persons in Uganda for national integration, development and individual advancement." The Education and Sports sector therefore is one of the country's key social service delivery sectors because it delivers critical government programmes such as Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Post Primary Education and Training (UPPET) as well as sports for enhancing citizens; wellness / health, productivity and the country's image.
Ministry of Tourism Wildlife & Antiquities: Tourism Institute of East Africa is a sector specific Institute, addressing training needs in Travel, Tourism, Hospitality & Leisure. Because of this, we work closely with the Uganda Ministry of Tourism Wildlife & Antiquities. The Ministry's mandate is to: formulate and implement policies, strategies, plans and programs that promotes tourism, wildlife and cultural heritage conservation for socio-economic development and transformation of the country”. The vision & mission is to promote Sustainable tourism, wildlife and cultural heritage contributing to the transformation of the Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern and prosperous one” And to develop and promote tourism, wildlife and cultural heritage resources for enhancement of Uganda as a preferred tourist destination, with accelerated sector contribution to the national economy”. Tailor-made training programs, tourism products are developed and shared with MOTWA.
Uganda Tourism Board (UTB): The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is the official Government destination market organization with the responsibility to promote and market Uganda as the preferred tourism destination in Africa. In this UTB works with other government agencies and the private business operators in the tourism sector. UTB does not run private tours, but represents the tourism industry players and promotes all for the public benefit. UTB regulates both the travel and tour businesses, and the commercial accommodations in Uganda. It is tasked with the inspection of all tourist services and facilities in order to ensure conformity with international standards. The functions of the Uganda Tourism Board include but are not limited to: To formulate, in cooperation and in consultation with the private sector and relevant entities, a marketing strategy for tourism in Uganda. To implement the marketing strategy and to promote Uganda as an attractive and sustainable tourist destination. To encourage and promote domestic tourism within Uganda. To encourage investment in the tourism sector and wherever possible, to direct such investment to the less developed tourism areas. TIEA's partnership with UTB goes beyond being a part of different Expos organized annually. Experiences are shared regarding the direction of Uganda's tourism development.
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA): is a semi-autonomous government agency that conserves and manages Uganda’s wildlife for the people of Uganda and the whole world. This agency was established in 1996 after the merger of the Uganda National Parks and the Game Department. UWA is mandated to ensure sustainable management of wildlife resources and supervise wildlife activities in Uganda both within and outside the protected areas. With 10 national parks and 12 wildlife reserves under its jurisdiction, UWA’s role in managing the country’s tourism industry and attracting investors to the sector has been a significant one. It also manages five community wildlife management areas and 13 wildlife sanctuaries. The challenges facing the management and conservation of wildlife and biodiversity in Uganda are myriad, and they include poaching, competition in the regional tourism market, human wildlife conflict and wildlife crimes.Stakeholders, partners and communities that live around these protected areas have been employed to help tackle some of these issues. The organization has also developed strategies within its management policies to help solve some of these challenges. Tourism Institute of East Africa works close with UWA on a number of different programs that range from: taking on our students for internship for 3-6 weeks in the national parks. Students gain a lot of practical skills in Tourist guiding in the national parks, learn about habitation of wild animals, birds, reptiles among others.
